Privacy

Families trust us with their children, and nannies trust us with their careers. This page explains, in plain words, what we collect, why we collect it and how we keep it safe. We collect only what the match needs, and we treat every detail as we would wish our own to be treated.

Who we are

Miss B Nanny is operated by Miss B Nursery Scopes LLC, a California limited liability company founded by Sara Brennan, and is part of the Miss B family alongside Miss B’s Children’s Club. We may be reached at hello@missbnanny.com or by post at 2245 Lillie Avenue, Box 394, Summerland, California.

What we collect from families

When a family registers or asks about a placement, we collect the details needed to make a thoughtful match. These include the names and contact details of the parents or guardians, the home address and neighbourhood, the family’s needs and preferences for a nanny, and the details that make up the family’s B Scope chart, which are each member’s name, age, date, time and place of birth and, if the family wishes, a photograph and a note of favourite and not so favourite things. We also keep a record of our conversations with the family, the placement agreed and the fees paid.

What we collect from nannies

When a nanny applies to join Miss B Nanny, we collect her name and contact details, her date, time and place of birth for her B Scope, her qualifications, training and experience, her references and availability, and the notes on character, communication style, hobbies, interests and lifestyle that help us pair her well. With her written consent we also carry out background checks through a licensed provider, and we keep the outcome of those checks for as long as she is with us.

Children’s information

Children are at the heart of what we do, so their information is handled with particular care. We collect a child’s name, age, date, time and place of birth, and the interests and comforts a parent chooses to share, only from a parent or guardian and only with that person’s consent. We do not collect information directly from a child under thirteen. A parent may ask us at any time to see, correct or delete a child’s information.

B Scopes and birth details

B Scopes uses the date, time and place of birth to read the Sun, Moon and rising signs. On this website the reading is made in your own browser, and nothing is sent to us until you choose to send it. Within the Family Portal and the Nanny Portal, the charts you create are saved to your own account so that you can return to them, and they are seen only by you and by Miss B.

How we use what we collect

We use your information to make and confirm the match, to carry out interviews, references, checks and home visits, to arrange and support a placement, to take registration and placement fees, to answer your messages, and to keep in touch with news from the Miss B family when you have asked us to. We use it for nothing you would not expect from a nanny agency, and we do not sell it.

Who we share it with

We share information only where the match or the service requires it. A family sees the profile of a nanny proposed for them, and a nanny sees the details of the family proposed for her, each with the other’s knowledge. Our trusted service providers help us run the website, take payments, send email and carry out background checks, and each is bound to protect your information and to use it only for us. We share information with the authorities only where the law requires it or where a child’s safety calls for it.

Where it lives and how we keep it safe

Our website runs on Squarespace and is served over a secure connection. Email is handled by Google. Portal accounts and charts are kept in a dedicated, access controlled database. Access to personal information within Miss B Nanny is limited to Miss B and to those who need it for the match, and every nanny who joins us agrees to keep a family’s details private.

How long we keep it

We keep a family’s and a nanny’s information for as long as the relationship with Miss B Nanny continues and for a reasonable time afterwards, so that we can honour our agreements and meet our legal duties. When it is no longer needed, it is deleted. You may ask us to delete it sooner, and we will, except where the law asks us to keep it.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us at any time what information we hold about you or your child, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or ask us to stop using it for news and updates. Californian residents also have the right to know how their information is used, the right to deletion and correction, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, which we do not do, and the right to be treated no differently for exercising these rights. To make any request, write to hello@missbnanny.com. We will answer within the time the law allows, and usually much sooner.

Cookies

We use a few cookies to keep the website running smoothly and to understand how our pages are used. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept them, manage them or decline all but the essentials, and you can change your choice at any time through Cookie Preferences at the foot of every page.

Children under thirteen

This website is written for parents, guardians and nannies. We do not knowingly collect information directly from a child under thirteen. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes to this page

We will update this page as Miss B Nanny grows and as the law changes, and the date at the top will tell you when. If a change affects how we use your information, we will let you know.
